Knightsbridge Chemicals Limited (KCL) was incorporated in Bermuda in June 1997 under the name of Nimir Chemicals Company Limited. It is a subsidiary of Knightsbridge Investments Limited -a private investment company registered in Bermuda.

In October 1997 KCL made its investments in three companies in Pakistan, Nimir Industrial Chemicals Limited (NICL), Nimir Chemicals Pakistan Limited (NCPL) and Nimir Resins Limited (NRL), a listed company manufacturing paint raw materials. KCL instituted management changes and economies to aid the profitability of those entities.

In August 1999 the company purchased 57% of International Chemicals Company SAE (ICC) in Egypt. The investment was increased to 95% in April 2004 and prompted a top-down review of its operations and suppliers to put the company on a more viable footing.

Industrial Chemicals & Resins LLC (ICR) was set up in 2000 along with Nimir Speciality Chemicals FZE (NSC) in 2003 to focus on speciality chemicals in the Middle East. These two have had very successful start-ups and have quickly become key players in their markets.

In 2004 the group capitalised on its investment in NRL, selling a controlling interest to Dawchem, a long standing peer in the Pakistan chemicals market. The group has retained a minority associate shareholding in NRL in order to maintain its participation in the progress that the company continues to make.

The result of this is the diversified group that exists today. The group's range of products and locations benefit from the synergies of experienced management and the exchange of ideas. The board is committed to achieving growth of the group through a policy of expanding current operations and seeking out new opportunities to increase utilisation of its core competencies and regional presence. The group is focused on the Middle East and North Africa where its proven business model can be leveraged.

KCL is an active parent company providing management focus and advice to its group companies. Based in Dubai it is well placed to provide hands-on support to its subsidiaries and to explore new opportunities in the region.
