NCPL's three plants were supplied by Lurgi GMBH and are situated along the main highway connecting the two industrial towns of Sheikhupura and Faisalabad, near Lahore.

NCPL is the only manufacturer of pthalic anhydride (PA) in Pakistan. The initial production capacity of the PA plant was 12,000 TPA, and it was increased to 16,000 TPA in 2004. The plant is being further expanded during 2006 to 28,000 TPA to satisfy the developing domestic market in Pakistan. PA is a petrochemical used to manufacture various types of synthetic resins and plasticizers. The company also produces over 1,000 TPA of maleic anhydride (MA) and is the leading manufacturer of di-octyl phthalate (DOP) in Pakistan with a production capacity of 15,000 TPA. DOP is a plasticizer used in the manufacturing of PVC products.

 

The company's major clients represent manufacturers of plasticizers, synthetic resins, UPR and PVC goods such as soccer balls and garden hoses.
NCPL employs 150 personnel including a team of mechanical, electrical and chemical engineers who have diversified working experience and up to 25 years involvement in the petrochemicals industry .

The company has an in-house quality control laboratory with sophisticated equipment in order to meet the demands of its clients and maximise product performance.

 

Company milestones

  • Formerly known as Celanese Pakistan Limited, the first plant was set up by Hoechst AG in 1994 to produce pthalic anhydride.

  • It became part of the KCL group in 1997 and its name was changed to Nimir Chemicals Pakistan Limited (NCPL).

  • Growth of the market in Pakistan prompted the company to increase production capacity in 2004 and further expansion continues.
