Located near Lahore in Pakistan, NICL is the only manufacturer of stearic acid and distilled fatty acids in the country .The company is also the country's leading producer of glycerin. It is a public limited company listed on the Karachi and Lahore Stock Exchanges.

The current combined capacity of the above three products is 24,000 TPA. Most of the stearic acid is supplied to manufacturers of resins, cosmetics, rubber and tyres while almost all of the distilled fatty acids are supplied to the leading soap manufacturers in the country. NICL is the third largest producer of caustic soda and its related products in Pakistan. The plant has a capacity of 10,000 TPA of caustic soda, 15,000 TPA of chlorine/hydrochloric acid and 10,000 TPA of sodium hypo chloride.

It has a power plant, which generates electricity for its caustic soda process.

 
   

The company is currently finalizing its plans to construct a soap noodles plant, which will provide high quality feedstock to the soap industry.

NICL has over 175 employees including many highly qualified chemists and engineers. The company has an in-house quality control laboratory with sophisticated equipment that ensures the quality of the existing products. Most of these products have been developed through the research and development department in order to meet customer demand as well as the needs of the changing market.

 

Company milestones

  • NICL is the oldest company in the group, incorporated in Pakistan as a public limited company in 1994. Its shares are quoted on the Karachi and Lahore stock exchanges in Pakistan.

  • The KCL group took over management of the company in 1997.

  • In 2005 NICL commenced production of caustic soda.
